Developing custom software is a fascinating business, but we were frustrated by
our users' unwillingness to report problems. We couldn’t find an application that
let us automatically record exceptions on desktop PCs and send the information to
us securely. Every solution we looked at was a lot of overhead (running our own
issue tracking server) or a lot of money. We decided to fill this gap. When we informally
polled developers on the idea of automatically submitting issues into a central

California is a privately-help company financed by a company founder. As a seasoned
software engineer and consultant for many of the fortune 500 companies around San
Francisco Bay Area, he realized the need for the desktop software such as the IC
Studio and the intranet application such as the icTracker and the icPeople in the
business market place. He also felt that the bookmark feature in both of Microsoft
Internet Explore and Netscape Navigator was inadequate for management of people's
favorite web sites. He began developing for his own use what eventually become IC
Soft Site Manager.
