Cheetah
About Tool:
This fully integrated solution allows you to proactively test and monitor your VoIP and VoD performance while maintaining the integrity of other critical applications.

Additional Information
Lower HFC network operational support costs through integrated, proactive network assurance.

The battleground between traditional telcos and cable operators has clearly expanded to three fronts, representing all of the coveted “triple play” services. While each tries to preserve their incumbent customer base, all service providers are introducing new service technologies into existing network architectures with the intent to gain market share from each other’s subscriber base through bundled service offerings and distinctive quality-of-service claims.

For cable operators, successful maintenance of high quality of service with the rollout of IP services is directly related to the challenge of managing the HFC network. The HFC network is vulnerable to constant changing RF conditions that are difficult to isolate and resolve, resulting in costly truck rolls. Cable operators estimate that the majority of their troubles — including those relating to multi-layered IP services — are within the HFC network (from headend to home).

Tollgrade’s Cheetah™ product line can lower HFC network operational support costs through integrated, proactive network assurance. The ability to remotely monitor and manage the physical elements and isolate multi-layered IP services in the HFC network results in increased reliability and greater customer satisfaction.

With a long history in HFC network assurance, Tollgrade has raised the bar in status and performance monitoring while pioneering new ground in IP service testing and performance analysis. We’ve accomplished this through a transformation of our transponders and status-monitoring software products, advancing HFC fault and performance management techniques.

Company Overview and Contact:
Since the introduction of our patented MCU® technology in 1988, Tollgrade Communications has continued to provide innovative solutions for network testing and management.

Tollgrade has made strategic business acquisitions in both the telecom and cable broadband industries over the past several years, allowing us to offer complete, cost-effective and integrated solutions for network assurance.

SNAsim

About Tool:

SNAsim is a powerful SNA 3270/5250 testing and traffic generation tool. It provides a PC-based environment for simulating the 3270 and 5250 data streams produced by IBM Mainframes using SDLC, Token Ring, and Ethernet connections. Ready-to-run tests are provided for: protocol conformance, functionality, load/stress, and host application emulation. A scripting facility is available to create additional tests.

Additional Information

The load/stress tests provide integrated reports containing: bits/second, packets/second, transactions/second and response time, eliminating the troublesome and error prone need to use external monitoring systems or line monitors for performance results. SNAsim can be used to evaluate the performance of single or multiple LUs and single or multiple PUs. SNAsim can also be used to evaluate the performance of gateways, routers, FRADs, or other intermediate network components - as well as measure the end-to-end performance of a complex network.

  • Avoid expensive downtime by stress-testing your network before and after you make changes.

  • Identify performance capacities and bottlenecks by stressing components to their limits.

  • Identify problem sources by determining whether the problem is due to the network or incorrect configuration before running with the production net
